Community Hardship Fund Benefit
Sep 11 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

City of Key West Firefighters IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) 1424 Local Chapter. On September 11th, 2015, we will be hosting our second annual community hardship fund benefit. The event is completely organized by local firefighters. It is sponsored by the generosity of the Key West business community. All donations and proceeds will go directly to our local IAFF 1424 Hardship Fund to help support and better the lives of local community members. This fund helps fellow Key West citizens in their utmost time of need to help cover the losses due to house fires, car accidents, sudden deaths, and medical emergencies. Just in the last year alone, the IAFF 1424 Hardship Fund has generously donated to a local thirty year old firefighter battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a beloved preschooler battling Wilms cancer for the second time in his three short years of life, and helped alleviate some of the financial stress countless local families face due unexpected home fires.

We would greatly appreciate if your radio station would be willing to advertise in their segments the week of for the promotion of this benefit. I have attached the benefit flyer for your reference. If you need any more information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to call my husband, Andy Harris (local firefighter/paramedic) at 305-896-4474 or our local headquarters at 305-809-3700. Thank you for your time. Have a good day!

The Good a Health Clinic exists to address the local need to take care of our friends  and neighbors who find affordable health care out of their current reach. The individuals the Good Health Clinic cares for are not only the homeless, but also many of the “working poor” in our community. These patients work in the dive, fishing, hospitality, and the self-employed industries that typically have low, irregular pay and no employer covered health insurance. Many of these professions are essential to the culture and amenities provided in the Florida Keys, yet the workers struggle to pay for the basic needs, particularly in the high cost living areas. When individuals have access to preventative care and chronic disease management through primary care they are able to live the happier, healthier, more productive lives.

The Plantation Key School PTA sets yearly goals that promote the welfare and education of children while taking into account current school needs. They work in partnership with a variety of individuals, including parents and staff members, to accomplish our goals. Their overall purpose is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and community members to advocate for all children. The PKS PTA is dedicated to promoting student success and well-being through strong parent, family, and community involvement. They strive to offer services and resources that meet the diverse needs of the PKS student body. They also promote activities that strengthen school spirit, encourage family togetherness and support safety within our community.
